Instagram v2.2 enhancing Faster Cameras features

Not to long ago since the release of the latest update Instagram, namely version 2.1, the image processing application now has launched a newer version. Presumably the team based in South Park, San Francisco is trying to reach more users in Asia with the release.

Instagram v2.2 enhancing Speed Cameras featuresThis is evidenced by the support they give to the two major networking site in Asia. Two sites in question is Mixi (Japan) and Weibo is king of microblogging in China. With the support of Instagram, users of these applications can share photos directly to these sites.

The company has also moved to address a long-standing issue, by introducing a faster camera, aimed at helping users grab those picture perfect moments as they appear.

Mixi recently partnered with Twitter to help fend off the growing threat of Facebook in Japan but it still commands an impressive 22 million users there. While Sina Weibo is a Twitter-like service that has more than 300 million registered accounts in China. The service is hugely popular but new regulations that will require users to verify their identities could impact upon it when they come into force next month.

The new version of Instagram also allows all users to change their profile picture from their profile page, making it a far easier and convenient to do so.

Other updates to the new version includes a fix for a couple of known bugs:

This version fixes a bug that caused filters to not apply in some cases when using Lux, as well as a bug that sometimes caused photos to not save to your photo library.

The move to support these Asian services follows comments Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom made back in November when he revealed the company was “interesting in exploring” opportunities to partner in Asia.

Systrom previously indicated that the company was not looking to launch an office in Asia but, having made the first step of supporting local users there, the possibility may not be so far away after all.

Instagram hit 15 million users back in December and the company has publicly admitted it is working on an Android app, though recent rumors suggested a Windows Phone 7 release may come first.

Note: The new sharing options are available for phones with device language or region format is set to Chinese or Japanese only. However it appears that, once a sharing connection with Weibo or Mixi is established, users can reset their device to a different location and still enjoy the feature.

Adobe said these remaining apps will launch for iOS later this year and will all work with Adobe’s Creative Cloud services.

Other features in Adobe Touch for iPad include the ability to share to Facebook directly from the app, search, using Google, from within the app, apply sophisticated image effects, and even use your tablet’s built-in camera to fill in portions of your image project.

Is this evidence that the iPad 3 will use the Retina Display?

The launch of iPad3 supposedly imminent. According to reports with evidence, iPad 3 will almost certainly use Retina-tech screen and 8 megapixel camera. MacRumors media claim they successfully get the authentic iPad 3 screen of Apple's production chain.

Is this evidence that the iPad 3 will use the Retina Display? The screen size is the same as the iPad2, which is 9.7 inch. Once the components of the screen is examined more deeply, MacRumors stating iPad 3 will use very high resolution Retina Display technology. Retina Display now only present in the iPhone and iPod Touch.

However, after close examination under a microscope, the site says it can confirm that the soon-to-be-announced new tablet will indeed boast the super high resolution display Retina Display.

The report says: "When comparing the iPad 3 display to one from an iPad 2 under a microscope, the difference in resolutions becomes readily apparent, with the iPad 3 display's pixels appearing to be one-quarter the size of those on the iPad 2.

"Extrapolating out, the iPad 3 screen should carry a full resolution of 2048x1536, exactly twice the linear resolution of the iPad 1 and iPad 2 which is 1024x768. Such a screen should be able to display much sharper images as compared to the previous generation iPads
."

MacRumors blockbuster find was followed by reports from Taiwan showing photos of a purported iPad 3 casing, which appeared to present a larger camera lens and slightly refined rear casing.

Taiwan's Daily Apple publication says the parts, obtained "through special channels" prove that the iPad 3 will boast a better snapper than the two-megapixel offering currently housed on the iPad 2.

Is this evidence that the iPad 3 will use the Retina Display?
The report speculated that the larger lens meant an iPhone 4S-like 8-megapixel camera, while the slightly more tapered edges would enable Apple to accommodate longer battery life.

Recent guestimates suggest that Apple will unleash the iPad 3 in the first week of March, with reports last week predicting that March 7th will be D-Day

Apple showcased the Lion Mountain operating system

Apple introduces new operating system for Mac computers, OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion has been released to developers and the plan will be enjoyed by consumers in mid-2012 this. Interestingly, this new OS brings features similar to the iOS, iPhone and iPad operating system.

Apple showcased the Lion Mountain operating systemMountain Lion integrated with iCloud. So, when users turn on the computer for the first time, they were given the option to sign in with Apple ID, and then automatically be set up iCloud, FaceTime, iTunes Store, as well as the Mac App Store. A new messaging application features called Messages, replace iChat features. Similar to the iOS, embedded features Reminders and Notes, and Game Center.

There is also a Notification Center to alert the user if there is mail, new messages and so on. Check out the early Mountain Lion build on a loaner MacBook Air. Highlights of what's coming:

iCloud
Apple's cloud-based service, launched last fall, now has 100 million accounts. You'll be able to tap into the clouds to set up a new Mac with your Apple ID account credentials. A Documents feature will let you view, create and edit the same documents on your Mac as on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. In a cloud-based Document Library, you can organize documents into folders by dragging one on top of the other similar to the way in which you can create folders containing the apps you have on iOS devices. Apple is opening the technology to Mac developers so that various Mac apps can work with Documents in the cloud. But the feature was not built into the developer preview that I had access to.

Messages
Apple's iChat instant messenger and chat service is being replaced by iMessage, the Mac version of a feature that arrived with iOS 5. The result: You can send messages to or from a Mac to anyone who has an iOS device. Conversations in iMessage are kept up to date across all your computers and devices. And you can send pictures, high-definition video and other attachments up to 100 megabytes in size. You can also send group messages and receive a "read receipt" that lets you know when a person has seen your missive. Through a typing indicator, you will know when the recipient is readying a response. There's also a FaceTime button within the Messages app that lets you launch a video call. And Messages works with the same instant-messaging services that iChat supported, including AIM, Yahoo, Google Talk and Jabber.

Reminders and Notes
Other iOS 5 features come to the Mac. Reminders are a handy way to track your to-do lists. A built-in Share button inside Notes lets you share your note via e-mail or message.

Notification Center
As on the iPhone or iPad, Notification Center is a central repository for calendar reminders, incoming e-mail, new messages and more. On those iOS devices, you can pull down notifications by dragging your finger from the top of the screen down. On the MacBook Air, I was able to make the Notification Center come and go with a new gesture — moving two fingers left across the trackpad after starting the gesture off the trackpad. If your Mac doesn't have a trackpad, there's a tiny icon in the upper right of the screen to click.

Twitter
Twitter is now integrated through Mountain Lion. So in the Safari browser, Preview, Photo Booth and Quick Look, you can select Twitter to tweet from within the app. If you choose, you can add a location to your tweet.

Game Center
Apple's social-gaming venue in iOS — there are more than 20,000 Game Center-enabled games in the App Store — is coming to the Mac.

AirPlay Mirroring
If you have an Apple TV box on the same network as your Mac, you'll be able to exploit this to wirelessly stream whatever is on your Mac screen to a high-definition television connected to Apple TV.

Gatekeeper
Through the years, Macs have famously avoided the scourge of viruses and malware that have plagued Windows PCs. But Apple is keeping up its guard with new security technology.

Yes, Google has just released the updated Gmail application and add features requested by users. These features are presented here include sound notification of new email messages, and signatures that can be customized.

Google to present new Gmail for iOSOther additions that stand out here is the existence Scribbels features. Scribbles allows users open a canvas to draw (or “scribble”) something using multiple colors and brush sizes. When finished, the scribble can be attached to an email and sent via the app.

The company first released the Gmail iOS app in November but quickly pulled it from the App Store due to widespread login problems. Two weeks later the app returned, but proved to be a huge disappointment for most people. In addition to the lack of support for multiple accounts and poor image message scalability, the app pretty useless for anything but plain text messages.

Battery problem on iPhone 4S still continues
They complained the device quickly drains the battery even when not being used. Wrote one user:
Seems like the upgrade did *NOT* fix a thing! This is not what I expect from Apple – Steve Jobs must be crying from up there!! I updated it yesterday night, eager and expecting to see the battery levels not drop off the cliff. After the upgrade, I spoke on the phone for ~35mins and surfed the Internet for ~10mins, my battery levels dropped from 78% to 55%!! I thought to myself, perhaps, I should recharge it fully. Charged fully @ 645am EST and now it is 0706am EST, phone not used – 2% battery drop. WHAT IS GOING ON APPLE????

Some users are suggested that perhaps the iPhone 4S suffers from a hardware, rather than a software problem.
I first upgraded to the 5.0.1 developer release last week and saw no improvement. I switched to the public release yesterday in case of any changes and…still no improvement. I’m becoming less and less convinced (in my case) that it is iOS 5 related at all. I ran iOS 5 for months on my iPhone 4 without anything like the issues I’m having now. My wife now has my iPhone 4 on iOS 5 and she’s having no problems either. For me though, on my iPhone 4S, horrible drainage problems. I’m increasingly convinced that I have a genuine hardware issue with my iPhone. Or, if not hardware, a very specific iOS bug that only is hitting the iPhone 4S as my exact same setup with the same software works without problem on the iPhone 4. I have a Genius Bar appointment on Tuesday, let’s hope they switch my phone for one with a working battery. FYI I have done two separate clean installs, neither of which has helped.

Many users are turning to their local Apple Store for help.
Booked a genius bar appointment, battery will not last over 5 hours of usage and 15 hours standby, not good enough at all. ios 5.0.1 has made no difference.

To be sure, reports on Apple’s message boards may not indicate widespread problems. Moreover complaints of poor battery life are widespread on modern smart phones, whose large screens and constant notifications make getting through a day of intensive usage challenging.

Apple appears to be looking into ongoing issues. ”The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices,” the company said in a statement released to AllThingsD. “We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.”

Fix battery in iPhone 4S, Apple releases iOS 5.0.1

Apple finally released an update iOS 5 operating system, related to the number of complaints expressed by users of iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad.
iOS 5.0.1 software released 'over-the-air' and this step, is the prime step that has been done by Apple. Release of over-the-air means Apple users do not need to connect the device to the computer and run iTunes.

Fix battery in iPhone 4SThe update also patched five security vulnerabilities, including one revealed earlier this week by noted researcher Charlie Miller, who demonstrated that Apple's App Store code signing could be sidestepped to download malware onto an iPhone without the owner's knowledge.

Apple did not spell out the specific battery-related patches, saying only "Fixes bugs affecting battery life" in a short list of the update's contents.

Almost immediately after the launch of the iPhone 4S, owners began reporting that the phone was exhausting its battery at a prodigious rate, with some claiming that their batteries were losing 1% of their power every few minutes.

While some users Thursday morning said that they had already downloaded iOS 5.0.1, it was too early for results reports to appear on Apple's support forum.

Other fixes included in iOS 5.0.1 claimed to resolve bugs with documents stored and synced using iCloud, improved voice dictation accuracy for Australian users, and added multitasking gestures to 2010's first-generation iPad.

On the security front, Apple patched five vulnerabilities and also revoked the digital certificates of a Malaysian certificate authority (CA). Microsoft and Mozilla had done the same last week for their Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers.

The most notable patch was for the bug discovered earlier this year by Miller, principal research consultant for Denver-based security firm Accuvant and the only four-time winner at the annual Pwn2Own hacking contest.

That bug let Miller craft an iOS app, which Apple approved and distributed via its App Store. Miller's app, however, exploited the flaw to force the app to "phone home" to a server he controlled, which then could issue commands to any hijacked iPhone running iOS 4.3 or later.

Miller informed Apple of the bug in October, but did not tell the company he had created an app to demonstrate the flaw. Apple's reaction was swift: It bounced Miller from the iOS developer program and banned him from reapplying for a full year.

Although Miller was unable to test the patch in iOS 5.0.1 because his app had been yanked from the App Store, he pointed out the appearance of the update, and as he had done earlier this week, defended his research.

"Even if some thought what I did was unethical, I hope public reporting of that flaw sped up time to patch release to make things safe for us," Miller said on Twitter today.

Apple credited Miller in its security advisory for reporting the bug.

Other patches plugged holes in FreeType, iOS' font-rendering engine, and quashed a bug that let people with physical access to a passcode-locked iPad 2 view data on the tablet when Apple's Smart Cover was opened.

iOS 5.0.1 weighed in at between 39MB and 45MB on multiple iPhones and iPads when the devices retrieved the update over the air.

Connecting an iPhone 4 to iTunes, however, revealed a massive update of some 790MB.

To do an over-the-air update, select the "Settings" app on an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, then touch "General" and finally "Software Update."

Tricks to maximize the features in iOS 5

Now, iOS 5 is can be tried by the users of the iPhone 4, iPhone 3Gs, iPad first, and second, iPodtouch third generation, and fourth. But to download the user must first install iTunes 5.10 which was released earlier. It is said that this operating system has hundreds of new features that do not exist in previous versions. iOS 5 is promising a number of compelling new features.
This operating system also has many hidden features that unfortunately if missed. These are functions that may be largely unknown users iOS 5.

How to use the iPad's split keyboard on iOS 5
We have already shown quite a bit of what iOS 5 has to offer for both the iPhone and iPad. This time we are going to show you something that is specific to just the iPad. Steve Jobs announced a new split keyboard for the iPad at Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) back in June. The split keyboard is currently only available on the iPad and allows for a different typing experience, but one that aims to improve the user experience.

To activate the split keyboard, with the default keyboard visible, drag two fingers from the middle of the keyboard towards each side of the screen. It doesn't make a difference if you are in portrait or landscape mode, the keyboard will then split into two halves, hugging the edge of the screen on each side.

Get started with iMessage
iMessageTo turn on iMessage, or to adjust any settings for iMessage, you will need to go into Settings > Messages on your iOS device. If the switch for iMessage is turned off, tap or slide it over to turn iMessage on.

Once iMessage is turned on, you will see an "Activating" dialog followed by some new options appearing on the Messages setting screen.

The first option is the ability to turn on Read Receipts for your iMessage conversations. With the option turned on, the other party in your conversation will be able to see once you view a message they have sent you. If you opt to leave read receipts turned off, they will only be able to see when the message has been delivered.

With the Send as SMS setting turned on, iOS will route a message through your carrier via SMS instead of iMessage when iMessage is unavailable. Currently, iMessage only works when either a Wi-Fi or 3G signal is present.

The last option that appears once iMessage has been turned on is the Received At setting. Go ahead and tap on it to set up the address(es) where you would like to receive iMessages.

Whether you are using iMessage on the iPod Touch, iPad or iPhone, you can set up multiple e-mail addresses where you'd like to receive messages. If you are using an iPhone, your phone number will be the default receive at address, with the option of adding an e-mail address to receive messages at as well.

To set up your e-mail address for iMessage, you will need to enter your Apple ID, followed by the e-mail address you would like to use. Apple will then verify your e-mail address, and add it to iMessage.

Tap on Caller ID to set which address you would like your outgoing iMessages to appear to be from.

Setting your Caller ID to the same address across all your iOS devices comes in handy if you are wanting to keep all of your iMessage conversations in sync (in real time) across multiple devices. Even if you receive an incoming message at one of your other iMessage-enabled addresses, the outgoing message will be sent using the address of your Caller ID.

Above is a message that was sent using iMessage. You may notice that the color of the bubble is blue, as opposed to the green bubble you are accustomed to seeing when sending a text message. This is a fast and simple way to identify how your message was sent. You may also notice the text field has "iMessage" populated below the subject box, again this is a fast way to identify the method by which your messages are being sent.

When you are entering a contact at the start of a new conversation, the name of the contact will turn either blue or green, depending on which delivery method the Messages app is going to use for the conversation.

There is also a Delivered message below the chat bubble. This indicates that your message has indeed been delivered to the recipient.

Once the recipient has read the message, assuming that person has the Read Receipts feature turned on, the Delivered message will then change to Read. The three dots on the left in the screen above indicate that the other person is currently typing a message.

Get started with iOS 5's Notification Center
Notification Center is one of the most anticipated (not to mention long overdue) features in the upcoming release of iOS 5 for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Apple has completely redone the alert system in iOS 5, taking away those annoying and intrusive alerts we all had grown accustomed to on iOS. In this post we are going to show you exactly what to expect from Notification Center once iOS 5 is released.

Tricks to maximize the features in iOS 5
Alerts are now queued in the Notification Center, which can be quickly accessed by swiping down from the top of the device's screen, no matter which app the user is in. This allows for quick access to any alert the device has recently received. No longer are users required to click through each pop-up, expected to remember each individual alert.

Tapping on a given notification will take you directly to that specific app, message, e-mail, or the appropriate section of an app. You can clear any pending alerts for an app by pressing on the X and then Clear, located next to the app name.

The number of notifications per app, as well as order of notifications, can be customized by the user in the Notification Center settings. Go ahead and launch your iOS device Settings app, then select Notifications--it should be the third item on the list.

The first option you will see is the ability to either manually sort the notifications by app, or have them sorted automatically by time. If you select to sort them by time, the notifications will be placed in order of last received. If you decide to manually set the order of the alerts, you can do so by pressing the Edit button at the top of the screen.

After pressing Edit, you will see three lines appear next to each app. The three lines indicate you can rearrange the order of the apps by dragging them up or down. The same order you place the apps in here will be the same order notifications are displayed in the notification center. Press Done when you are satisfied with the order of the apps.

In the Notification Center settings, you can also customize alerts app by app. Select any app you would like to customize, and tap on it.

Once you are into an individuals app's settings, you can control a slew of notification options for that app. The options include the following:

Enable/disable Notification Center
Control the number of notifications shown (1, 5, 10)
Type of Alert: None, banner, or the old style alerts
Badge App icon: The red badge with number of unread items that appears on the app icon.
Show Preview: You can now hide details of incoming messages, including e-mail.
View in Lock Screen: Notifications will only be shown while the device is unlocked and being used.

Once you are satisfied with the settings for the app, tap on the back arrow to get back to the previous screen.

If you have turned off an app in the Notification Center, you will find it at the bottom of the app list in the Notification Center settings. You can turn the app's notifications back on by selecting it and sliding the toggle switch over to the on position.

The new notification is a small bar that shows up at the top of your screen, no matter what you are doing. If you are playing a game, your game will not pause as it did in the past; instead it allows you to keep playing or tap on the alert to be taken to the message.

If you elected to allow app notifications to remain visible in the lock screen, you will see them listed in a similar fashion to the Notification Center drop-down. From the lock screen, you can't tap on a notification to open it; you use the same gesture you use to unlock your phone to open a notification.

To unlock your device and view a message, place your finger on the app icon and slide left to right. The icon should mimic the unlock slider behavior; once you get to the right side of the screen, lift your finger. Your device will unlock, taking you directly to the app and message selected.

Notification Center is a great new addition to iOS. Anything that can be done to improve the overall user experience on any platform is always welcomed.

Twitter on iOS 5Control access to your Twitter account on iOS 5
One of the features announced when iOS 5 was revealed during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference back in June was deep Twitter integration. What this meant to the end user was that any developer could easily implement Twitter into their app, allowing tweets, links, and pictures to be sent with ease.

There may be instances where a user doesn't want a particular app to have access to their Twitter account. In previous beta builds there was no way to prevent this--there is now.

To limit which apps have access to your Twitter account, the first thing you will need to do is go to Settings in your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.

Once you are in Settings, scroll down and tap on the Twitter option.

In early beta builds, this was the extent of the Twitter settings screen. You were able to add an account, or update your contacts' information, and that was it. Now, if you scroll down, you are presented with the option to allow or disallow access to your Twitter account app by app. Go ahead, scroll down to the bottom of this screen.

Here you will see any app that has requested access to your Twitter account. To deny access to any app, simply toggle the switch next to the app name from On to Off. Once access is turned off, when that particular app tries to access your Twitter information you will be presented with a dialog like the one below.

Of course, you can always go back into the Twitter settings and turn access back on.

It's great to see these little additions to iOS 5 as it gets closer to public release this fall.

iOS 5 ready tested on iPod, iPhone and the iPad

Apple's newest operating system, iOS 5 is available for download. This software update can be downloaded through iTunes 105 which has also been released by Apple. iOS 5 brings a number of new features. Like, an enhanced notification, better camera application where the user can use the volume buttons as a camera shutter, as well as supporting cloud streaming. iOS 5 is required to access the iCloud, service back up and Apple's online synchronization.

iOS 5
But the noteworthy features of iOS 5 does not include Siri, a new voice command technology from Apple since these features exclusively for the iPhone 4S. One of the most awaited features in iOS 5 is probably iMessage. iMessage is a messaging service that is expected to rival the popularity of BBM (BlackBerry Messenger).

Here are hands on: iOS 5 review

iOS 5: Notification Center
For us, this is the biggie: it gives you Android-style notifications that appear on the lock screen (if you want them to) and in a panel that slides down when you swipe the top of the screen.

The Notification Center is easy to configure it just-so in Settings, although you'll find yourself tweaking it as you go along: some apps, such as Facebook, are a little more verbose than we'd like, notifying you of everything that happens on Earth.

You can also change the way apps notify you so, for example, you might make Facebook updates appear in a banner at the top of the screen rather than interrupting you with a noisy alert window.

Some apps, such as Facebook's, are a bit too keen on notifying you about things. The Notification Center rewards fiddling

iOS 5: Lock Screen and Camera
Notifications on the lock screen are now swipe-able, taking you straight to the appropriate app or service. You can now access the camera from here too: double-press the Home button and you'll see a little camera icon in the bottom right of the lock screen. Clicking it opens the Camera app and - praise be! - you can now use the volume-up button as a shutter button, which makes the iPhone camera approximately 3,000% more useful.

You can now perform basic image editing - cropping, red-eye removal and auto-enhancement - from within the Photos app, and iCloud integration delivers the superb Photostream, which automagically copies any photos you take on one device to your other devices. It's quite spooky to see your iPhone photos appearing in your iPad photo library.

Double-pressing the Home button brings up the camera icon, and you can use the volume control as a shutter button

iOS 5: Safari
Safari gets two key new features from the desktop version: Reader, which strips out ads and unnecessary page furniture to deliver a clean, clear reading environment, and Reading List, which enables you to save pages to read later.

Don't dump Instapaper, though: Reading List is essentially a bookmarking and syncing service, not a caching service. Adding a page doesn't cache it for offline reading. On the iPad, Safari also gets tabbed browsing. iPhone and iPod screens are too small for that to work particularly well, so they remain resolutely un-tabbed.

Say goodbye to gratuitous page furniture with Safari's Reader mode, which strips ads and other annoyances

iOS 5: Reminders
Reminders is one of those apps that makes you think you're living in the future. "Hey, iPhone!" you can say to yourself as you tap in a new to-do. "Next time I'm in town, remind me to go to that really cool place that all the cool people go to!"

Location-aware reminders are a brilliant idea for those of us with scatterbrains, although rather annoyingly there are just two ways to enter locations: by using your current location, or by choosing an address from Contacts. Maps searching would be handy here.

Your reminders can be stuck into the new notification area too, and you can sync them with iCal and Outlook.

iOS 5: iCloud
The heart of iOS 5 is really iCloud, Apple's free - for the first 5GB at least - cloud storage service. It does some genuinely useful things, including wireless backups and automatic synchronisation between your various devices, but watch what you select: we enabled backup on an iPhone and iPad, storing enough data for Apple to email us and suggest we start buying more space. It's definitely worth spending time in Settings > iCloud to ensure you're not filling your free space with things you don't need.

Backing up everything looks like a good idea - until you realise you've used all your iCloud space

iOS 5: iMessage
We're surprised the mobile networks let this one through: if you're sending a message to someone who's registered their phone as an iOS device, the green bubbles go blue and your message is sent for free via the internet rather than the networks' SMS/MMS gateways.

iMessage supports read receipts and even sends video, and it's effortless and immediate. Of course, it won't work if you don't have a data signal.

iMessage knows if somebody has iOS 5 - and if they do, it sends your text, photo or video over the internet for free

iOS 5: The iPad's magic keyboard

When you bring up the keyboard on your iPad, you'll notice some little lines on the keyboard button at the bottom right: press and hold and you can either undock the keyboard to move it up the screen, or split it for faster two-thumbed typing. It's clever, but the split keyboard's keys become iPhone-sized and harder to hit.

You can move or split the iPad keyboard. Perfect for anyone who thought "wouldn't it be great if this were less comfortable?"

iOS 5: Goodies not everyone gets
Some of iOS 5's features are device-specific. We've already mentioned Safari's iPad-only tabs and magic keyboard, and the iPad also gets new gestures: four- or five-fingered swiping up to reveal the multitasking bar and swiping left or right to switch between apps.

If you like the sound of AirPlay video mirroring, which puts every app on your TV, that's limited to the iPad 2 and iPhone 4GS only.

iOS 5: Goodies not everyone cares about
The iPod app has become Music, with your videos moved to the new (on the iPhone/iPod) Videos app. Game Center has been tweaked to add profile pictures, friend recommendations and Xbox Live-style achievements, you can have a live stock ticker in the notifications area and Calendar gets a one-year view on iPad and a one-week view on iPods and iPhones.

There's also Newsstand, which is effectively iBooks for magazines, and Twitter has been baked right into the operating system so you can tweet from Apple's apps - although strangely, you still have to download the Twitter app first.

iOS 5: Goodies that are hard to illustrate but really important
One thing that prevented the iPad from being a genuine computer alternative was the need to connect it to a computer. That's gone: you can set up your iOS 5 device without going near a PC or Mac, and you can download software updates over the air.

If you do have a computer, though, you can finally sync without cables: whenever your device is charging, it'll look for your computer and sync wirelessly with iTunes.

iOS 5: Verdict
iOS 5 has been trailed for so long that the element of surprise went ages ago, but there's enough here to make your iPhone, iPad or iPad touch feel shiny and new all over again.

There's nothing particularly dramatic here and in some respects - notifications in particular - Apple's just catching up with what everyone else has been doing, but it's a solid upgrade to an excellent OS.

Blogger app for the iPhone release

Blogger has finally released an application for the iOS operating system. This is the first official application issued by the Google's blog service. This application is of course welcomed by the bloggers because with this application they are permitted to publish blog posts directly from their phones. Unfortunately, the services provided by this application is not a full service, because users can not do edit the template or HTML, as well as manage the comments through the application.

Blogger app for the iPhone
So that only the major activities are displayed by these applications that store (save), edit (edit) and publish posts, including uploading photos and adding location information. This application will be available to users iOS 3.2 and above. Its user interface is said to like Blogger app for Android.

In the arena of blogging service, Blogger was overshadowed by the middle of other services like WordPress, Tumblr and other competitors. That is why Google, as the owner of Blogger has made some effort to make Blogger relevant again.
